Trade War Data Favors the United States

According to Bloomberg, the United States exports $150 billion to China and imports $500 billion from China. This means China has $150 billion worth of trade they could put tariffs on and the United States has $500 billion worth. The US Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is $18.57 trillion, and China’s GDP is $11.2 trillion, according to the World Bank. The Trump administration argues that the United States can put tariffs on 4% of China’s economy and they can put tariffs on 1% of ours. Therefore, China will run out of things to put tariffs on before we will, which will likely hurt them more than it will hurt the United States.Ken MoraifMoney Matters
